Why do carriers charge differently for the same package? (divisor differences)
Two different carriers can charge different amounts for the same package because they may apply different divisors. For example, a 20×16×12 in package returns a 27.63 lb DIM weight with divisor 139, but only 23.13 lb with divisor 166. That difference flows directly into billable weight, and therefore into cost.
Before shipping, check which divisor your carrier applies and select it in the Shipping divisor field above so you can preview the real cost impact ahead of time.
Small and heavy, or large and light? Which weight applies
Carriers apply the rule billable weight = max(DIM weight, actual weight). A small but heavy package (like a box of books) is usually billed on actual weight, while a large but light package (like pillows or toys) is usually billed on DIM weight.
