What's new: a lightweight photo editor on every uploaded item
Previously, if you wanted a caption baked into a photo or wanted to reposition an off-center shot, the only option was to edit the image in a separate app first and re-upload it. That's still fine if you already have a workflow you like, but for a quick fix it meant leaving the tab. The new editor handles both of those cases without ever leaving the tier board.
It's deliberately kept simple rather than turning into a full image editor: you're cropping within a square stage and placing one sticker at a time, not layering filters or drawing freehand. That matches how small the final tile actually renders on the board — a few dozen pixels across — so a lightweight tool is the right amount of power for the job.
How to crop a photo and add a text or emoji sticker
- Upload an item image the normal way, either with the "Upload image" button or by pasting from the clipboard.
- Double-click the item tile (in the pool or already in a row) to open the editor modal.
- Drag the photo around inside the square stage until the part you care about sits in frame — this is the crop step.
- Type a short caption or an emoji into the sticker field, then drag the sticker itself to where it should sit on the photo.
- Save. The tile updates immediately with the cropped, labeled version.
Hypothetical example: say you're ranking a batch of screenshots from a phone game where the character always stands slightly off to one side of the frame. Instead of re-editing each screenshot elsewhere, you'd open each tile's editor, nudge the crop so the character is centered, optionally drop a small emoji like 🔥 or ⭐ in the corner to mark a personal favorite, and save — all inside the same tab you're already building the board in.
Nothing about this step touches the original file on your device; it only changes what the tile displays inside the board, so you can always reopen the editor and adjust it again, or re-upload fresh if you want to start over completely.
Also new: JPEG and a fixed 1080x1080 social-size export
PNG hasn't gone anywhere, and it's still the right pick when you want the sharpest possible text and edges with no compression softness. What's new is a couple of smaller-file alternatives for the situations where PNG was overkill: a straight JPEG at your board's normal proportions, and a social-size option that outputs a fixed square image so it's ready to post without extra cropping on the other end.

Switching formats is a single dropdown change right next to "Download" — pick PNG, JPEG, or the social size before clicking, and that's the file you get. Everything about how you build the board (drag and drop, templates, rows) stays exactly the same either way; this only affects the final downloaded file.
